In this 2023 CSUN video session, I sit down with Mike from CSUN TV to share my personal journey of building and scaling the Accessibility Program at CVS Health. It all started with a deep commitment to diversity and inclusion. I knew that to create something truly impactful, I needed to build a team that reflected the diversity of our society—people with and without disabilities. That decision set the tone for everything we accomplished.

I reflect on the challenges we faced and the lessons learned as we worked to define the policies, standards, and processes that became the backbone of the program. Over six years, what started as a small team grew to over 100+ team members, all driven by a shared mission to empower users of all abilities.

This session is about more than just the wins—like implementing accessibility testing methodologies or championing advocacy within the organization. It’s about the journey, the people, and the belief that accessibility is for everyone. Whether you’re just getting started or trying to scale your efforts, I hope this conversation offers some inspiration and practical lessons to help you on your own path

In this WITI Accessibility session, hosted by Women in Technology International, I had the privilege of sharing my journey of building and scaling the Accessibility Program at CVS Health. We dove into what it takes to embed accessibility into every stage of the product development lifecycle, whether it’s for digital or physical experiences.

I shared real-world examples, like the creation of Spoken RX, and reflected on the challenges and opportunities that come with driving organizational change. We also talked about the power of inclusive design and how it benefits people with diverse needs. Through personal stories and insights, I emphasized the importance of disability awareness and the role innovation plays in advancing accessibility—whether through new tools or contributions to the open-source community.

This session wasn’t just about sharing lessons but about sparking meaningful conversations within the accessibility community, with the goal of creating truly equitable experiences for everyone.
